The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ostool Bunkering Company (O Bunkering), a leading marine fuel supplier, to enhance collaboration in vocational training, scientific research, and the development of logistics technologies. This partnership aims to advance the maritime industry, align with global trends, and enhance the efficiency of maritime supply chain operations.
The MoU was signed by Ms. Nawal Jawad, Associate deputy for educational services
at GUtech, and Mr. Mahmoud Al Shibani, Acting CEO of O Bunkering, in the presence of senior representatives from both entities.
The agreement includes providing hands-on training opportunities for students and graduates, as well as development programs to explore the latest practices and technologies in the maritime and logistics sectors. It also outlines joint research initiatives and the organization of scientific events that bring together academics and industry experts to foster innovation and sustainability.
Additionally, both parties will engage in knowledge exchange and leverage research facilities and technical resources to support research and development efforts.
Mr. Mahmoud Al-Shibani emphasized the importance of this collaboration in developing national talent and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Meanwhile, Ms. Nawal Jawad highlighted that the agreement will help align education with labor market needs, enhancing graduates’ readiness for the industry.
GUtech and O Bunkering continue to strengthen their strategic partnerships and joint initiatives, reaffirming their role as key contributors to the development of the maritime and logistics sectors. This collaboration aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to build a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
